Venue

Your photoshoot can be indoors, outdoors or both. I love to shoot in natural light whenever I can, as I love the beautiful results this brings. Weather permitting, we can go to a favourite spot on location, taking advantage of the British countryside, or simply use a garden as a backdrop. But I also love the creative possibilities of studio lighting. My lights are portable and can be set up quickly and easily, so you can either come to me or I can come to you.back to top

Booking a session

You can call, email or fill in the online form (details at contacts) to arrange a date and time. Weekends tend to book up well in advance and Christmas is particularly busy, so it is important to book early to reserve a slot.

If you are interested in a maternity or newborn shoot, I will always do my best to book you in even at short notice. Maternity sessions should be somewhere between weeks 32-36, so you look at your most curvy and gorgeous. Newborn sessions should take place within the first two weeks, before babies become too alert and begin to change.

To secure your slot, you will need to pay the session fee in advance.back to top

Your session

I tend to have only one photo shoot per day, allowing me to focus all my attention on you. A session lasts for 1-2 hours during which I will typically take somewhere between 200 and 300 shots.

Sessions will always work better if your children are well rested and fed before we start. Don't worry about telling them to smile for the camera as this may make them feel under pressure to perform – just encourage them to have fun and be themselves. I can usually think of a way to get kids to laugh and smile while I am snapping away.

If I am photographing babies, there is plenty of time within a session to take account of feeds, nappy changes, and power naps – I will fit my photography around you.back to top

What to wear

Newborns photograph beautifully with not much on at all – a sweet little hat, or swaddled in a favourite blanket.

Older babies and young toddlers look great in plainish white or coloured clothing and accessories.

I love it when children get into the spirit of a photo session and jazz up their outfits with plenty of accessories. Jeans with block coloured tops always photograph well; smart shirts, pretty dresses and even fancy dress costumes are good options too.

If you are looking for photos of siblings or family groupings, make sure your clothes match or are complementary.

When you book a session, we can discuss clothing in greater depth. If in doubt, bring a few options along and we can decide on the day.back to top

After the session

Within a week of your photoshoot, your password-protected online album will be ready to view. If you wish, I can also make this available to friends and family, so that they can place orders of their own. A few days later, we meet face to face so that we can discuss options for displaying your favourite photographs and so you can place your order.back to top
